I don't remember mentioning women at all so I'm not sure how you presume to divine my opinions on them. I If you'd like to have a conversation with me I suggest you address my arguments. Otherwise there's not much to talk about.

Another male who does not see women as human beings. Let the dead women of Iran, not just those who have been shot but the stoned and hanged and honor killed come into your dreams and teach you about religions that seek control by force.

Green, thanks for providing an example of the sort of thing this symposium will no doubt deal with: the conflation of unrelated issues in order to create the bogeyman of an undifferentiated and monolithic Islam.

There is no contradiction between having a concern about prejudice against Muslims in Australia and supporting democracy in Iran.

The fight for democracy in Iran is not a fight against Islam but a fight against a particular theocratic government. Presumably the majority of people demonstrating in the streets are themselves Muslims, so it's hard to see how they could be fighting against Islam. No doubt, as Muslims themselves they would likely be supportive of open and democratic enquiry into the roots of prejudice against Muslim people.

I am urging women to wear green bracelets in solidarity with our Iran sisters – will you do it ? And tell others? Or do you think the people dying in the streets of Iran are Islamaphobes. This crap is not cutting edge -- the people fighting Islam are fighting for freedom. If you love Islam go to Mecca and live under it. Then you can sopeak with authority as to why free people should tolerate it.
